A day trip should feel light. Yet somehow people show up with a suitcase for eight hours out. After hundreds of trips, here's the kit that covers everything and still fits in a single daypack.
The essentials
- 1L refillable water bottle
- Sunscreen, hat, and a light rain layer
- A power bank and a short cable
- Snacks with real calories, not just chips
- A small first-aid pouch
The things people forget
A dry bag or zip-lock for your phone, a spare pair of socks, and cash for the small vendors who don't take UPI. These three weigh nothing and save the day more often than you'd expect.
Pack for the activity, not for every hypothetical. If you haven't used it on the last three trips, leave it home.
